GOOD MORNING AND HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome new mailing list members. Enjoy your free download of "Let It Snow" below.
I'm so grateful for a new year and new opportunities. I hope you're feeling hopeful and excited too about all we might experience.
I'd like to thank Avon Lake United Church of Christ for giving me the honor of singing at the midnight service on Christmas Eve. I just loved it. Minister, Kelly B. Brill, gives some of the wisest and most wondeful sermons. The Christmas Eve message was so relevant to the times we live in. Kelly managed to tie the life a Jesus and his message into the world we live in today. It dovetailed beautifully into my song, "Light the Weary World" which Pete and I shared. And there's nothing like a church with lights dimmed and candles lit. Beautiful! Thank you ALUCC.
Also, Pete, Kelly and I had a great time at my annual "Day After Christmas Concert" at Barking Spider Tavern. We played to a packed (and cozy) room (including the Pirrone Family) and I loved hearing you all sing along with us. It was great to meet new friends from New York, Boston and Pittsburgh. Those of you in attendance heard the debut of my new song, "Where We Are", inspired by the book
This book exposes the extreme poverty in the United States and the enormous gap between the upper and lower classes...the largest gap and lowest levels since the Great Depression...but it also offers solutions which are totally within our reach and that I pray we will embrace. It shares personal accounts of those living in poverty and those trying to help their neighbors. I knew it was impossible that I would read this and not be inspired to write.
Thanks to all of you who came out to celebrate the season and share a night of music. Thank you to the band Triage for getting things going. Thank you for a most generous tip jar too!
Again we have traveled to Canada for a balmy January and February. Great timing once again with friends from out of state as they make their annual visit to Nashville. They have a place to stay and we have someone to look over our house and plants while up north. I take this time now to enjoy peace and quiet, read and write. And I LOVE having snow!
