Happy weekend to all! It's 1/2 off at Goodwill today...yooo hooo!
I've got lots of you down for prizes given in last email. Many of you will get a free shot glass, $2 off any merchandise at a show and $2 off your tickets for The Music Box Supper Club show on March 26th. Tons of you wrote to get your choice. Excellent!
The winner of the "Where Am I" contest is Patti Baddour, a faithful and wonderful fan! Patti said the photo was from Toronto Ontario Canada and that is correct. Many of you guessed correctly....Patti was first to cross the finish line. Patti chose a free Anne E. DeChant, Cleveland Proud hat.
Thanks to everybody who played. We will again soon.
In light of Super Tuesday, I've been thinking lately that a good business to start would be a ferry service. Here's where mine would go.
The Cleveland to Canada Ferry Line
I could be a millionaire!!!!!
This past week I was in-studio with my producer, Mike Severs (Anne E. DeChant, "The Sun Coming In", Don McLean, guitarist Dolly Parton, Billy Joel) recording my original song, the theme song for this year's 2016 Transplant Games.
The Games are being held in Cleveland Ohio June 10-15. I was invited to a meeting in Nashville in November. Sue Brady, producer of The Games, on behalf of president Bill Ryan, met with me to ask if I would be a part of this year's ceremonies by writing a theme song and performing that song at The Games. It's a huge honor for me to have been asked and an even bigger honor to learn about the many donors and recipients through their stories told online.
I felt there was no way I could write the song without knowing these people. I over 50 stories and had a discussion with donors and recipeints on the Game's Facebook Page. I got to know them. I spent the winter in Canada where I go for extreme quiet. There I could really get into the wonderful stories of so many courageous people and understand a bit about their experience. The overriding emotion I found is gratefulness. The recipients are grateful for the gift of life, families are grateful for the gift that has been given to their brother, son, father, daughter, mother.... Other families are grateful for the gift that their loved one gave. Many donor families feel as if their loved one is living on through the donor recipient. And living donors are grateful for the opportunity to save someone's life. I exist in great admiration of all these people.
A question I asked of those participating in The Games was what they are thinking as they are about to compete. How do they feel as they stand on the starting line, wait on the platform ready to dive into a pool, are about to tee off? Across the board they told me they are thinking of their donor, feeling grateful and wanting to make them proud.
These are the stories and comments I needed to write this song.
On Tuesday, we recorded the song and I'm very excited about what we will have to share (debut) at Opening Ceremonies on June 10th. I'm grateful to have been asked and I look forward to meeting many whose stories I have read and whose story I hope to tell. Thank you Sue and Bill for this great honor.
