DeChant's ninth independent album. The collection features 11 new songs, and was produced by Mike Severs (Felix Cavaliere, Don McLean).
DeChant’s new album was conceptualized in late 2014, and features the unmistakable lyricism that her fans know and love, as well as familiar influences from Bruce Springsteen and Mary Chapin Carpenter.“I was in my office, behind my desk with guitar in hand, facing the picture window that looks out on my yard, and that's when the song, ‘The Sun Coming In’ began,” DeChant said. “For me, the song represents my letting go of many fears about my career in music, and being present to appreciate all the good things that have come my way.”
The album was fully funded two weeks before its Indiegogo deadline, a feat that pays tribute to the niche DeChant has carved for herself in a town full of musicians vying for listeners. Artists and industry professionals have noticed, as well – guitarist Mike Severs, who’s worked with legends from Dolly Parton to Rod Stewart and Don McLean, produced the album.“Mike is one of the most sought after musicians in Nashville,” DeChant said. “I am so proud to have his name on the album credits and know listeners will be able to hear the hard work he put into making every note sound exceptional.”
The record is already gaining critical acclaim. Popular Americana music website No Depression writes: "As the wave of Americana music continues to grow going into its third decade, Anne E. DeChant’s career has paralleled this rising tide. With what looks to be her finest album to date in the works, she is one Americana artist to watch over the next year."
DeChant first caught the public eye as the frontwoman for Odd Girl Out, and has created an impressive career for herself as an independent artist through years of touring venues ranging from The Bluebird Café to The White House. She will be performing songs from the new album at release shows in both Nashville and her hometown of Cleveland.
