We've Got Something to Say About It, A Writers' Workshop for Grades 9-12
Where? When? Who?
“We’ve Got Something to Say About It”, is a free two-day writers’ workshop for students grades 9-12.
Join award winning author Frye Gaillard, Nashville recording artist and songwriter Anne E. DeChant, and pastor Kelly Brill and explore the craft of writing: how to find your inspiration, how to move through writing blocks, how to develop your unique writer's voice. We're also going to have fun!
We'll discuss and practice both prose and lyric writing. You choose which style of writing you'd like to learn more about and you'll practice what you learn during our break out sessions throughout the day.
By the end of the workshop you'll have a great start toward a completed work. You may even have a completed work, whether song or prose. Anne E. will even help you put your lyrics to music. On the evening of July 6th, some students' (if they wish) work will be shared by Frye Gaillard and Anne E. during the performance of their show, "With Music and Justice for All" inside the ALUCC sanctuary.
You'll walk away from this workshop ready to carry on in your writing with new tools and more confidence. You'll have practiced the craft of writing and have a better sense of your unique writer's voice.
